How to Print with the ICC Profile

Printing with the ICC profile is very simple to do if you follow these instructions.

Prepare your image in whatever program you like and save it as an uncompressed JPEG of TIFF file, or whatever you can open in a supported graphics program. (PhotoShop v5 and up, CorelDraw v9 and up, and CTP novelty software)

Hanes SublimationMaker 2.0– Color setup and printing with the
Artainium ICC Profile

Note - The Hanes SublimationMaker version we support must have the ability to set the color space to "Adobe RGB (1998)" for use with ArTainium Inks. If your version does not support this, you can download a newer version from http://www.sublimationmaker.com and install.

Open Hanes SublimationMaker.

Note - SublimationMaker may not remember these settings after you close it, check the settings each time you open it.

From the color menu, select "Color Space"

From the list shown, select "AdobeRGB1998" and press "OK".

Note - This profile may not be installed by default. If you do not see it in the list, go to http://dyesubinks.com/help/color_associateprofile.htm and follow the directions. Step 3 of the ICC setup instructions contains the same information.

From the "Color" Menu, select "Color Profiles"

The next box wants to know which printer is the sublimation printer, select it and press "OK".

On the Color Management window, check the box "Enable Color Management". Choose "Basic Color Management". Select the the "AdobeRGB-1998" for the monitor setting and select your ICC profile for the "Printer profile".

Note - if you can’t choose the Artainium ICC profile from the Printer Profile drop down list, go to http://dyesubinks.com/help/color_associateprofile.htm and follow the directions for adding the ICC profile to your printer color management. Step 3 of the ICC setup instructions contains the same information.

Prepare your image to satisfaction and click the "Print" button.

Select your sublimation printer from the drop down list.

Click "Properties".

Select the custom print mode you saved in Step 2 from the custom list.
(the properties shown may not look exactly like yours)

Note - If this is the first print for the day, you should click the "Maintenance" or "Utility" tab and do a nozzle check before printing. Follow the on-screen instructions to get a perfect nozzle check.

If you select "Mirror" here make sure your saved print mode does not mirror the image again. This will make the image flip twice and NOT reverse the image. If you are printing onto DarkWear, leave it checked to print correctly.

Click "Print" to start printing

Select your custom print mode you saved when you installed the ICC profile. The printer driver may not default to a saved setting so you must check it each time you print.

Note - If this is the first print for the day you should do a "nozzle check" while you are here by clicking either the "Utility" tab or the "Maintenance" tab.

Press "OK" on the printer properties.

After printing the image, let the ink dry for about 2 minutes before pressing. Keep in mind that the image on the paper will look dull and slightly off-color, this is normal if you are using the ICC profile correctly.
